Certified Flight Instructor Helicopter

This is a training package for a student who holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate with a helicopter rating and wishes to become a Flight Instructor. This rating allows you to obtain gainful employment at a helicopter flight school where you can begin to build hours towards your next job flying larger aircraft.

Eligibility requirements

The following are the FAA minimum requirements to obtain a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate:

  • be at least 18 years
  • hold at least a Commercial Pilot Certificate with a helicopter rating
  • have a current FAA third-class medical certificate
  • pass the FAA Fundamentals of Instruction and Flight Instructor written exams
  • pass an FAA practical exam
  • English skills (read, write and speak)

Length of Program:
From start to finish you should allow approximately 5 weeks.

Dual Instruction R22 10 hrs @ $265.00 = $2,650
Ground Instruction 25 hrs @ $25.00 = $625
Written Test 2 test @ $100.00 = $200
Examiner’s Fee = $450

Average flight time is approximately 10 hours although some students may require more time.
