Private Pilot Helicopter
This is the training package for a student who has little or no flight time and wishes to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate with a Helicopter rating. A Private Pilot Certificate is similar to a driver's license; it allows you to fly passengers and to share operating expenses with passengers, but prohibits the pilot from conducting flights for compensation or hire. Our ground school provides you with the knowledge to pass your FAA written examination, and our flight instruction is tailored to your individual needs so that you become a safe and competent pilot.
Eligibility requirements
The following are the FAA minimum requirements to obtain a Private Rotorcraft Certificate:
- be at least 17 years
- have a current FAA third-class medical certificate
- log at least 40 hours of flight
- have at least 10 hours of solo flight
- pass the FAA Private Pilot Airmen Knowledge written test
- pass an FAA Private Pilot flight exam
- English skills (read, write and speak)
This is the bare minimum based upon the FAA requirements. The actual time it takes to complete your training is dependent upon how frequently you fly and how dedicated you are to studying the required materials. On average, most students complete their training with about 50hrs of flight time.
